AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 2-2 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA DESIGNATING PERSONS
TO ACT AS CITY MANAGER IN CASE OF ABSENCE, DEATH, ETC.,
OF THE CITY MANAGER.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
that Sec. 2-2 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia be
and it hereby is amended and reenacted to read in its entirety
as follows:
"Sec. 2-2.
Desiqnation of persons to act as city manaqer
in case of absence, death, etc.. of city manaqer.
"(a) In the case of absence, incapacity, death or resignation
of the city manager, the assistant to the city manager shall serve
as acting city manager until the return to duty or replacement of
the city manager.
"(b) In the event the assistant to the city manager is unable
to serve or in the case of his absence, incapacity, death or
resignation while serving, then the chief of police shall act as
acting city manager until the return to duty or replacement of the
city manager. In the event the chief of police is unable to serve
or in the case of his absence, incapacity, death or resignation while
serving, then the director of public services shall serve as acting
city manager until the return to duty or replacement of the city
manager."
