AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-20
OF THE FAIRFAX CITY CODE
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia that Section 14-20 of the Code of the
City of Fairfax be, and hereby is, amended and reenacted
to read in its entirety as follows:
"Sec. 14-20.
Public utilities--Damage to property; pre-
ventin8 meters from registering; use with-
out consent or diversion of 8as, water or
electricity.
"No person shall unlawfully injure or destroy, or hav-
ing the right to prevent it shall permit to be injured or
destroyed, any meter, pipe, conduit, wire, line, post,
lamp, switch, connection, valve or other .apparatus or
appurtenance belonging to the city or to a public utility
serving the city, nor shall any person unlawfully prevent
an electric, gas or water meter from duly registering the
quantity of electricity, gas or water supplied or in any
way unlawfully interfere with its proper action or just
registration, nor shall any person divert or otherwise
unlawfully use or cause to be used without the consent
of the city or such public utility any electricity, gas
or water provided by the city or such public utility, or
having the right to prevent it, permit such unlawful use.
"Any person violating the provisions of this section
shall be guility of a class 3 misdemeanor.
This ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its adoption.
