AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, %0 ADD TO CHAPTER TWO OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, A
NEW ARTICLE XII, ESTABLISHING A PARK OPERATING
POLICY.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, that the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, be and i
hereby is amended by adding to Chapter 2 of the Code of the City o~
Fairfax, Virginia, a new Article XII, to read in its entirety as
follows:
ARTICLE XII. PARK OPERATING POLICY
Sec. 2-60. Hours of Park Operation.
(1) ~.ours. Except for unusual and unforeseen emergencies,
parks shall be open to the public every day of the year during
designated hours. The opening and closing hours for each individ-
ual park shall be posted therein for public information.
(2) Closed Areas. Any section or part of any park may be
declared closed to the public by the city manager at any time and
for any interval of time, either temporarily or at regular and
stated intervals (daily or otherwise) and either entirely or merel
to certain uses, as the city manager shall find reasonably necessa
(3) Signs. When any park regulation is established pursuant
to this section, the city manager shall cause to be erected appro-
priate signs or markers so that an ordinarily observant person, wh¢
may be affected by such regulation, will be aware of such regulaticn.
When any regulation is made pursuant to this section and when
appropriate signs or markers have been erected as required by this
section, it shall be unlawful for any person to violate any such
regulation.
This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its adop-
tion.
