AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTION 2-48(d)
OF ARTICLE VIII OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PERTAINING
TO GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES FOR EMPLOYEES IN
THE CAREER SERVICE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Subsection 2-48(d) of
Article VIII of Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia, prescribing grievance procedures for
employees in the career service, be and it hereby is
amended as follows:
1) Add a new sentence immediately following the
second sentence in Subsection 2-48(d) to read in its
entirety as follows:
"Questions of grievability (whether the complaint
is a grievance in accordance with the Personnel
Ordinance)will be ruled on by the City Attorney
when such questions cannot be satisfactorily
resolved by the City Manager."
2) Substitute a comma for the period at the end of
the first sentence in paragraph (4) of Subsection 2-48(d),
and add the following as the ending for that sentence:
"and the Personnel Advisory Board shall hear
the appeal."
This ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia.
