19751209 1975-61ORDINANCE NO. 1975 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VIII OF CHAPTER 7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PROVIDING FOR RENTAL RELIEF FOR QUALIFIED ELDERLY TENANTS. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Article VIII of Chapter 7 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, be and it hereby is amended in the following manner: 1. That section 7.41(c) of the said Article be and it hereby is amended to read in its entirety as follows: "c. The gross combined income of the applicant(s) during the grant year shall be an amount not in excess of $10,000. Gross combined income shall include all income from all sources of the applicant(s) and of the applicants' relatives living in the dwelli for which the rent relief is claimed. If the applicant has been a resident of the City for less than the full grant year, the income received for the grant year and the maximum allowable income shall be prorated for the period of actual residency." 2. That section 7.41(d) of the said Article be and it here is amended to read in its entirety as follows: "d. The net combined financial worth, including equitable interests, as of December 31 of the grant year, of the applicant(s and of the spouse of any applicant, must not exceed $35,000." 3. That section 7.43 of the said Article be and it hereby is amended to read in its entirety as follows: "Sec. 7.43 Calculation of Amount of Grant~ limitation. For eligible applicants with a gross combined income not in excess of $2,500, the amount of the grant shall be equal to fifteen per centum (15%) of the actual annual rent paid for a dwelling in Fairfax City during the grant year, or $350, whichever 1975-61 is less. -2 For eligible applicants with a gross combined income in excess of $2,500, the amount of the grant for any grant year shall be the difference between fifteen per centum (15%) of the said actual annual rent and the sum of the following: Two per centum of the amount of total combined income in excess of $2,500, but not in excess of $3,500; and Three per centum of such income in excess of $3,500, but not in excess of $4,500; and Four per centum of such income in excess of $4,500, but not in excess of $5,500; and Five per centum of such income in excess of $5,500, but not in excess of $6,500; and Six per centum of such income in excess of $6,500, but not in excess of $7,500; and Seven per centum of such income in excess of $7,500, but not in excess of $8,500; and Eight per centum of such income in excess of $8,500, but not in excess of $9,500; and Nine per centum of such income in excess of $9,500, but not in excess of $10,000. Provided, however, that the amount of the grant actually received shall in no event exceed $360 for any grant year. For a qualifying applicant residing in Fairfax City for less than the full grant year, the amount of the grant shall be determined by computing the amount of the grant which would be allowed to the said applicant if said qualifying applicant had resided in the City of Fairfax during the entire grant year, dividing said grant amount by twelve, and multiplying this amount by the number of complete months during which the applicant 1975-61 -3 resided in the City of Fairfax and met the conditions of this Article.
