AN ORDINANCE kWiENDING SECTION 13-76.1 OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX,VIRGINIA,
ESTABLISHING _~_AXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON CHAIN
BRIDGE ROAD, MAIN STREET, NORTH STREET,
WEST STREET, LITTLE RIVER TURNPIKE, OLD LEE
HIGHWAY, LEE HIGHWAY, ARLINGTON BOULEVARD,
JERMANTOWN ROAD AND PICKETT ROAD
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pursuant to Section
46.1-180 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, and Section
13-76 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, as amended, has caused
certain engineering and traffic studies, investigations and re-
ports to be made on Chain Bridge Road, Main Street, North Street,
West Street, Little River Turnpike, Old Lee Highway, Lee Highway,
Arlington Boulevard, Jermantown Road and Pickett Road; and,
WHEREAS, based upon such studies and investigations, the
speed limits on such highways and streets should be set by Section
13-76.1 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, as herein-
after provided; THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, that Section 13-76.1, be, and the same hereby is,
amended and re-enacted in its entirety as follows:
Section 13-76.1. Maximum speed limits on certain highways
and streets.
(a) The speed limit on northbound and southbound Chain
Bridge Road for its entire portion in the City is hereby fixed at
thirty miles per hour.
(b) The speed limit on westbound and eastbound Main Street
(Little River Turnpike) between Roberts Road and the eastern
boundary of the City is hereby fixed at thirty-five miles per hour
(c) The speed limit on Main Street (Little River Turnpike)
eastbound and westbound on the one way pair via Old Lee Highway,
North Street and West Street between Roberts Road and the Everly
Funeral Home is hereby fixed at thirty miles per hour.

(d) The speed limit on eastbound and westbound Main Street
(Little River Turnpike) between the Everly Funeral Home and the
western boundary of the City is fixed at thirty-five miles per
hour.
(e) The speed limit on northbound and southbound Old Lee
Highway for its entire length is fixed at thirty-five miles per
hour, except for that portion located within the one way pair
for Main Street which was fixed by subsection (c) at thirty miles
per hour.
(f) The speed limit on eastbound and westbound Arlington
Boulevard and Lee Highway for their entire length within the City
is fixed at thirty-five miles per hour.
(g) The speed limit for all traffic in all directions on
Pickett Road for its entire length in the City is fixed at thirty
miles per hour.
(h) The speed limit on northbound and southbound Jermantown
Road for its entire length in the City is fixed at thirty miles
per hour.
This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
passage.
