19720321 1972-6AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX,
VIRGINIA TO DESIGNATE PERSONS TO ACT AS CITY MANAGER
IN CASE OF ABSENCE, DEATH, ETC., OF CITY MANAGER.
ORDINANCE NO. 1972-6
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
that Sec. 2-2 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia be,
and it hereby is, amended and reenacted to read in its entirety
as follows:
Sec. 2-2.
Desisnation of persons to act as city manager
in case of absence~ death~ etc. of city manager.
"(a) In the case of incapacity, death or resignation of the
city manager, the chief of police shall serve as acting city
manager until the return to duty or replacement of the city
manager.
"(b) In the event the chief of police is unable to serve
or in the case of his absence, incapacity, death or resignation
while serving, then the director of public works shall act as
acting city manager until the return to duty or replacement of
the city manager. In the event the director of public works is
unable to serve or in the case of his absence, incapacity,
death or resignation while serving, then the city comptroller
shall serve as acting city manager until the return to duty or
replacement of the city manager.
The City Manager having resigned, an emergency exists,
and this ordinance shall take effect at the meeting at which it
is introduced and passed without publication, hearing or
specific time interval between introduction and passage.
Passed this ~k/ day of March, 1972 by two-thirds
affirmative vote of the members of the City Council present.
