AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1971-5 , EN-
TITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE
OF THE $1,500,000 AUTHORIZED BUT UNISSUED BALANCE
OF THE $6,500,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OF THE
CITY OF FAIRFAX AUTHORIZED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1968-
15, ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON NOVEMBER 12,
1968 AND APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF THE CITY VOTING ON THE QUESTION OF ISSU-
ING SAID BONDS AT AN ELECTION HELD ON DECEMBER 17,
1968." TO CHANGE THE DATE, PRINCIPAL PAYMENT DATES
AND INTEREST PAYMENT DATES OF SAID $1,500,000 BONDS.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX HEREBY ORDAINS:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 1971-5 , adopted by the City
Council on February 16, 1971 (herein called the "Ordinance") is
hereby amended as follows:
(a) In Section 1 of the Ordinance, in the witnessing
clause of the bond form in Section 2 of the Ordinance and
in the coupon form in said Section 2 change the date of the
bonds from "lst day of April, 1971" or "April 1, 1971", as
the case may be, to "lst day of May, 1971" or "May 1, 1971",
as the case may be.
(b) In Section 1 of the Ordinance and in the first
paragraph of the bond form in Section 2 of the Ordinance
change the day of the month on which installments of prin-
cipal shall mature from "lst day of April" to "lst day of
May".
(c) In Section 1 of the Ordinance and in the first
paragraph of the bond form in Section 2 of the Ordinance
change the interest payment dates from the "lst days of
April and October" to the "lst days of May and November".
Section 2. Following the second reading and final adop-
tion of this ordinance, the city Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to file a certified copy of this ordinance with the Cir-
cuit Court of Fairfax County, Virginia.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall cause the title of this
ordinance to be published in the Virginia Sentinel, a newspaper of
general circulation in the City of Fairfax, promptly following its
introduction, together with a notice containing the date, time and
place for a public hearing which shall be not less than three days
after such introduction. The Clerk of the city Council shall note
the date of introduction and first reading, the date of publication,
the date of public hearing, and the date of the second reading and
final adoption in the minutes of the meeting.
