AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING
SECTION 2-3 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, TO MAKE IT APPLICABLE
TO ANY ABSENCE OF THE CITY MANAGER
Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, that Section 2-3 of the Code of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, be amended and re-enacted to read in its entirety, as
follows:
Sec. 2-3. City manager to notify mayor, councilmen and department
heads '6f ab~ehCe ~hd ~t~h fr~-abseh~'~. ~"'
The City manager shall give notice in advance to the mayor,
members of city council and all department heads of any absence
which shall require the designation or appointment of aD acting
city manager. Such notice shall state the date and time when the
acting city manager shall begin to serve. Upon his return to duty,
the city manager shall likewise notify the mayor, members of city
council and all department heads that he has resumed his duties.
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage.
