19661220 1996-17ORDINANCE NO. 1966-17 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-16 OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX TO REDUCE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: 1. Amend Subsection (a), (b) and (c) to read as follows: (a) The City Planning Commission shall be composed of seven members, appointed by the City Council, all of whom shall be residents of the City. All such members shall be freeholders qualified by knowledge and experience to make de- cisions on questions of community growth and development. (b) In addition to the seven regular members of the City Planning Commission, the City Council may appoint one of its members to sit with the Planning Commission ex-officio, which member shall not be entitled to vote with the Commission, shall not be counted to establish a quorum, and shall not hold any office on the Planning Commission. (c) Members serving on the City Planning Commission, except the member from the City Council, whose terms of office have not expired as of December 20, 1966, shall continue to serve until the expiration of their terms. Thereafter, appoint- ment or reappointment to fill such seats shall be for a term of four years, except in the case of the member of City Council appointed under Subsection (b), whose term shall be co-extensive with that of his elected office. 2. Delete Subsection (d). This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. ADOPTED: December 20, 1966. ATTEST: City Clerk APPROVED: Mayor - 2 -
