A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FORM CONTRACT FOR POLICE-
REQUESTED TOWING SERVICES RECOMMENDED BY THE TOWING
ADVISORY BOARD IN ACCORDANCE WITH VIRGINIA CODE SECTION 46.2-
1217.
WHEREAS, Virginia Code Section 46.2-1217 allows the governing bodies of
localities to contract for services rendered pursuant to a police towing request with one or
more businesses engaged in the towing or storage of unattended, abandoned, or immobile
vehicles; and
WHEREAS, prior to entering into such a contract, Virginia Code Section 46.2-1217
requires the local governing body to appoint an advisory board consisting of representatives
of local law-enforcement agencies, towing and recovery operators, and the general public, to
advise the governing body with regard to the appropriate terms of the contract; and
WHEREAS, on March 25, 2003, the City Council appointed a Towing Advisory
Board; and
WHEREAS, the Towing Advisory Board has prepared a recommended contract for
police-requested towing services, which it submitted to the City Council for its review and
approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax that the form contract for police-requested towing services recommended by the
Towing Advisory Board, which is attached hereto, is hereby approved in accordance with
Virginia Code Section 46.2-1217.
