A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF FAIRFAX REGIONAL
LIBRARY PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY AND FAIRFAX COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City, in conjunction with Fairfax County, has determined that in
connection with the redevelopment of Old Town Fairfax, it is desirable to either (i) construct
a new regional library consisting of approximately 45,000 square feet with 200 parking
spaces, or more if feasible, on the North Street Parking Lot site; or (ii) renovate and expand
the current regional library at the existing library site; and
WHEREAS, these library improvements will be funded by the City through the
issuance of bonds, and the monies required to be paid by the City to the County for non-
capital costs and expenses of library services in accordance with the 2003 General Services
Agreement will be used to pay the debt service on the bonds; and
WHEREAS, in order to proceed with the library improvements, it is necessary to
enter into the City of Fairfax Regional Library Project Development Agreement with Fairfax
County, which sets forth the scope of the library improvements and the obligations of the
City and Fairfax County with respect to the improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax that the City of Fairfax Regional Library Project Development Agreement with
Fairfax County is hereby approved, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the
Agreement on behalf of the City.
