A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AMENDMENTS TO THE MEMORANDUM
OF AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA
WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax, Virginia is party to the 1989 Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) which established the Northern Virginia Waste Management Board (the
"Board"); and
WHEREAS, the Board strives for regional solutions to waste management problems
and facilitates regional cooperation on waste management issues; and
WHEREAS, the Board endorsed amendments to the original 1989 MOA on January
10, 2003, and such amendments were also endorsed by the Northern Virginia Regional
Commission (the "Commission") on March 27, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the amendments to the MOA will serve to strengthen the Board and the
region's ability to work cooperatively on waste management issues while ensuring adequate
coordination with the Commission on issues of regional policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia endorses the amendments to the Memorandum of Agreement establishing the
Northern Virginia Waste Management Board and authorizes the City Manager to execute the
Memorandum of Agreement on behalf of the City.
