20031028 r-03-38 RESOLUTION NO. R-03-38 A RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA FOR COMPLETING THE CONSTRUCTION OF GEORGE MASON BOULEVARD WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia by Resolution, no. R- 96-4 established a project to relocate University Drive between Armstrong Street and Pohick Lane on the George Mason University campus, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia by Resolution no. R-97- 45 named this new road George Mason Boulevard, and WHEREAS, the City began the project to construct George Mason Boulevard in 1997 and the project has been delayed due to circumstances beyond the control of the City, and WHEREAS, the project will provide relief from commuter traffic to the 4200 and 4300 blocks of University Drive and to the adjacent neighborhood, and WHEREAS, George Mason Boulevard has been designed to minimize direct traffic impacts on adjacent properties and to provide safe pedestrian and bicycling facilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia reaffirms its support for the project and directs city staffto proceed with completion of the project.
