LOCATION AND DESIGN PUBLIC HEARING APPROVAL
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has been designing the road and storm sewer
improvement project for Routes 29/50 and 123 in the City, VDOT Projects: 0029-151-105,
PE 101, PE102, C501 and 0123-151-105, PE101, C501 under contract with the Virginia
Department of Transportation (VDOT); and
WHEREAS, The City of Fairfax and VDOT conducted a public hearing on the
location and design of the improvements November 4, 2000; and
WHEREAS, 93 citizens attended the public hearing, 13 written comments were
submitted and four public comments made during the hearing on the proposed improvements
and several comments were incorporated into the revised design; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax previously requested VDOT to program this project
and remains committed to the construction of the highway and storm sewer improvements to
Routes 29/50 and 123; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has previously agreed to acquire all rights of way
necessary for this project and certify same to VDOT at the appropriate time;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, meeting in regular session this 13th day of February 2001, the Council does hereby
endorse and support the highway and storm sewer improvements to Routes 29/50 and 123.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that VDOT aggressively expedites the reviews and
accelerates the project schedule.
