20000411 r-00-13RESOLUTION NO. R-00-13 VACATION OF SERVICE DRIVE WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has received a request by an adjacent property owner to vacate the service drive on the south side of Arlington Boulevard from the traffic circle to Pickett Road so that he could acquire that portion of the right of way that fronts his property and incorporate it into a commercially viable redevelopment including parking and landscaping improvements, and WHEREAS, neither the city's road improvement plans-- Comprehensive Plan, Six Year Plan, or CIP---contemplate the retention of the service drive nor require the right of way for widening Arlington Boulevard, and WHEREAS, vacating the service drive doesn't reduce the lane miles that are used in the calculation of the Virginia Department of Transportation payment to the city for maintenance and new construction and therefore has no impact on the city finances. NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia does hereby request that Virginia Department of Transportation vacate the service drive right of way on the south side of Arlington Boulevard from the Traffic Circle to Pickett Road.
