20000926 r-00-49 RESOLUTION NO. R-00-49 FUNDING AND RESTORATION OF BLENHEIM WHEREAS, over the last decade, city historic facilities have been expanded and rehabilitated; and WHEREAS, the city expressed gratitude to Historic Fairfax City, Inc., and the Blenheim Coalition for their efforts at encouraging and supporting historic preservation and related activities; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reaffirmed its intention of preserving the entire 12-acre Blenheim Estate for historic and public uses; and WHEREAS, the immediate need is for a broadly-supported strategic plan for the use and restoration of Blenheim and broad-based funding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Blenheim Restoration Task Force continues its mission of (1) advising the Director of Historic Resources in the strategic/business planning for the restoration of Blenheim, and (2) mounting an aggressive fund raising campaign at the local level to support all city historic properties and at the national level primarily to support the Blenheim restoration project; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the make-up of the task force will consist of the following: Councilman Robert Lederer, chairman; Councilman J. Chapman Petersen; (2) members of Historic Fairfax City, Inc. (Page Johnson and Steve Wolfsberger); and (2) members of the Blenheim Coalition (Hildie Carney and David Meyer); BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the city point of contact will be the Director of Historic Resources.
