RESOLUTION TO REFER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CODE TO STREAMLINE PROCEDURES FOR
BAR REVIEW FOR MINOR ARCHITECTURAL AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS;
TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON GRASS IN RESIDENTIAL FRONT YARDS AND
LIMIT PAVED SURFACE ON RESIDENTIAL LOTS; TO PROVIDE FOR
INSPECTIONS OF RESIDENTIAL RENTAL PROPERTIES AND FOR
SUSPENSIONS/REVOCATIONS OF RENTAL OCCUPANCY PERMITS; AND
TO CREATE APPROPRIATE PROVISIONS FOR ACCESSORY DWELLING
UNITS
WHEREAS, zoning ordinance regulations for inspections of residential rental properties
and suspensions/revocations of rental occupancy permits should be revised to articulate
procedures for inspections and permit revocation or suspension; and
WHEREAS, issues such as accessory dwelling units and parking/paving on residential
lots are inadequately addressed in the zoning ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the volume and scope of review currently required by the Code of the Board
of Architectural Review is excessive and should be revised to streamline procedures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, refer to the Planning Commission for study, public heating, and
recommendation proposed text amendments to City Code Chapter 26 as stated above.
