WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fairfax and the Board of Supervisors
of Fairfax County, Virginia, want to maintain an efficient and modern Adult
Detention Center to serve the needs of the City of Fairfax and the County of
Fairfax; and
WHEREAS, the present facility for the confinement of females in the Adult
Detention Center is overcrowded; and
WHEREAS, the present facility is being renovated in accordance with plans
prepared to meet specifications of the State and this renovation is estimated
to cost $429,165; and
WHEREAS, sections 53.1-80 and 83 of the Code of Virginia provide for
State reimbursement of up to 50 percent of the cost for the renovation of jails
which would result in a reimbursement of $207,832 for Fairfax County and
:$6,751 for the City of Fairfax for-a total reimbursement of $214,583;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Commonwealth of Virginia is here-
by requested to approve and fund a reimbursement to the City of Fairfax and the
County of Fairfax in accordance with the statutory reimbursement formula.
