RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE
CITY OF FAIRFAX HISTORICAL SOCIETY
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax, Virginia, has a long
and illustrious historical heritage, one that is steeped in the
rich traditions of early America; and
WHEREAS, there are many buildings and sites of great
historical significance within the City of Fairfax that stand
today as living reminders of Fairfax's heritage; and
WHEREAS, there is a recognized and expressed need in
the community to record and compile historical accounts, dates
and records of the City's early and recent history; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax Council is mindful of
the need for directing public attention to these traditions and
historical structures and events,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of
the City of Fairfax, Virginia, does hereby call on the citizens
of their community to organize and create an independent,
privately governed organization to be known as the City of
Fairfax Historical Society and dedicated to preserving and
promoting the rich historical heritage of Fairfax as herein
described.
