19731016 r-73-26RESOLUTION R-73-26 WHEREAS, there is in progress a feasibility study concerning the interconnection and computerization of all traffic signals in the various political subdivisions in Northern Virginia which may result in the implementation of the system to be known as the Northern Virginia Traffic Control System, and WHEREAS, it has been recommended that the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission should be designated as the agency given the responsibility of management for the centralized traffic control system including the control center, and IT APPEARING TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, that the aforesaid Northern Virginia Transportation Commission is the most suitable and appropriate agency to undertake the management of the system as aforesaid subject to the approval of other concerned political subdivisions in Northern Virginia and subject to the approval of the Virginia Department of Highways. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, that it is the sense of the Council that in the event of the eventual development and implementation of the Northern Virginia Traffic Control System, the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission as presently constituted should be the managing agency thereof.
