R-73-5
In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 12,~(5)
of the Basic Plan of the Commonwealth of Virginia Natural Dis-
aster Assistance Relief Plan, which became law on May 5, 1972,
the following resolution is adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED that as a result of severe winds,
rains and hailstorms in the area of the Shopping Center at
Pickett Road and Route 236 in this City during April 1, 1973,
this Council declares that an emergency existed in the City for
the period from about 3:30 p. m. on April 1, 1973 until approxi-
mately 12:00 midnight on April 2, 1973.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Civil
Defense be authorized and directed to take such action, and to
make such applications as may be necessary, to insure that max-
imum assistance is rendered to the inhabitants and businessmen
of the damaged area of the City of Fairfax by City Agencies.
