RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE STATE BOND
ISSUES FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
AND MENTAL HEALTH FACILITIES EXPANSION
WHEREAS, the voters of the Commonwealth of Virginia will
be asked to vote on bond issues totaling 81 million dollars
in the November 5, 1968 referendum; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia has enjoyed unprecedented
growth and prosperity in recent years; and
WHEREAS, the construction of public facilities must be
expanded to meet this growth; and
WHEREAS, $4,298,750.00 of the bond issue is scheduled to be
expended on George Mason College and $5,571,900.00 is scheduled
to be expended on the construction of a facility for mentally
retarded children in Northern Virginia; and
WHEREAS, these expenditures are essential to the education
and welfare of the inhabitants of Northern Virginia as well as the
State at large;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Fairfax gives its whole-hearted support and endorsement
to these bond issues and encourages their favorable consideration
in the forthcoming referendum.
