R-66-3
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax and the County of Fairfax
contemplate the construction and operation, as a joint venture,
of an Interceptor Sewer and a Waste Water Treatment Facilities,
pursuant to an agreement dated April 7, 1965; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax and the County of Fairfax
are desirous of obtaining a Federal Grant-in-Aid in financing said
project; and
WHEREAS, in multi-municipal projects of this nature it
is required that one of the municipalities accept the primary
responsibility for the project and file application in its name
and for the benefit of itself and the other community; and
WHEREAS, the County of Faifax proposes to accept the
primary responsibility and to contract for, construct, operate and
maintain the project in accordance with that certain agreement dated
April 7, 1965, between the City of Fairfax and the County of Fairfax
relating, inter alia, to said joint sewer proposal, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
that the County of Fairfax be, and hereby is, authorized to act as
agent of the City of Fairfax in making applications for Federal
Grants-in-Aid in connection with interceptor sewers and a waste
water treatment facilities to be constructed under agreement dated
April 7, 1965, between the City of Fairfax and the County of Fairfax,
and to sign all papers and documents necessary to secure said
grant, to accept payment of such grant in the name of the County
of Fairfax for application in accordance with the agreement of
April 7, 1965.
