R-24-28RESOLUTION NO. R-24-28 RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CITY OF FAIRFAX NONPROFIT GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax Mayor and City Council received a presentation about the nonprofit grant program for human services organizations during the June 25, 2024, work session; and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax Mayor and City Council directed the Deputy City Manager and Director of Human Services to develop operational parameters for the nonprofit grant program including grant program description, eligibility requirements, application requirements, and process for grant award determinations; and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax Mayor and City Council obligated $300,000 for the FY 24 nonprofit grant program; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL that: • The City of Fairfax's nonprofit grant process will be established as an annual competitive process available to human service nonprofit organizations that are either located within the City of Fairfax and/or current serve the City of Fairfax, • The nonprofit grant program will provide eligible organizations an opportunity to apply for 2 funding options- nonprofit grant and mire -grant, • The nonprofit grant program's annual funding allocation will be determined through the city's budget process. • The nonprofit grant program will target four community Areas of Need: Prevention and Self -Sufficiency; Crisis Intervention and Diversion; Long Term Support; and Improved Quality of Human Services. • The nonprofit grant program will be overseen by the Director of Human Services with support from the Deputy City Manager and the City's Finance Department, • Nonprofit grant program award decisions will be determined by a panel of City of Fairfax staff to include representatives from Human Services, Economic Development, Community Development and Planning, Parks, Finance and the Title VI Coordinator. • The Mayor and City Council will receive an annual report on all nonprofit organizations receiving nonprofit grant program funding.
