RESOLUTION ADOPTING
THE CITY OF FAIRFAX 2024 LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The City of Fairfax is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of
Virginia, and, as such, has an interest in prospective legislation that will come
before the Virginia General Assemblyduring its 2024 Session; and
WHEREAS, The Legislative Liaison, in collaboration with the senior leadership
team, elected officials, boards and commissions, regional association
and jurisdictional partners, has developed the legislative program
priorities and policy statements and recommends the City Council
support the proposed City of Fairfax 2024 Legislative Program; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has considered the Legislative Liaison's
recommendations provided any needed amendments and wishes to
approve them as the City of Fairfax 2024 Legislative Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia:
1. That it hereby approves the City of Fairfax 2024 Legislative Program and endorses,
by reference, the positions contained in the Virginia Municipal League, Northern
Virginia Transportation Authority, Northern Virginia Transportation Commission,
Commissioner of the Revenue and City of Fairfax School Board; and
2. That the Virginia General Assembly is urged to favorably consider and take
action on the legislative priorities provided in City of Fairfax 2024 Legislative
Program; and
3. That the Mayor, Members of City Council, the City Manager, Deputy City
Manager, Chief Financial Officer, City Attorney, Chief of Staff/Legislative Liaison,
and other City officials are authorized and encouraged to represent the City of
Fairfax positions, as set forth in the City of Fairfax 2024 Legislative Program, with
respect to prospective legislation and policy matters being contemplated by the
Virginia General Assembly during its 2024 Session; and
4. That a copy of the approved City of Fairfax 2024 Legislative Program be
forwarded to the City's delegation.
