A RESOLUTION AMENDING A POLICY OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA
REGARDING THE SALE AND CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
ON CITY PROPERTY OR ON PROPERTY UNDER THE CITY'S CONTROL
DURING CERTAIN CITY-SPONSORED EVENTS
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council, in 1990 adopted a policy regarding the
consumption of alcohol on city property or property under its control; and
WHEREAS,the policy limited the City's control of the consumption of alcoholic
beverages at the fourth of July, Spotlight on the Arts, Fall Festival and the Festival of Lights
and Carols; and
WHEREAS, for several years this policy has not been enforced and during those
years the sale and consumption of alcohol has been allowed at the Fall Festival and Spotlight
on the Arts without incident; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Fairfax shall remove the Fall Festival and Spotlight on the Arts from the policy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVE that the City Council of the City of Fairfax shall adopt
the attached amended policy regarding the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on
city property or on property under the city's control during certain city-sponsored events.
