RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA
TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE NVTC TO ACT ON THE
CITY'S BEHALF AS THE CONTRACTING AND COORDINATING AGENT FOR
THE NEW ELECTRONIC PAYMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is seeking to replace the
existing SmarTrip fare collection system with the New Electronic Payment
Program (NEPP); and
WHEREAS, the regional transit operators including CUE will be expected to purchase the
implement the NEPP after the completion of the pilot; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for coordinated analysis to ensure a seamless transition from
Smart Trip to NEPP; and
WHEREAS, the regional partners have asked NVTC to act as the City's agent to procure a
technical consultant and coordinate the regional partners' participation in
developing and implementing the system; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia that the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a
Memorandum of Agreement with the Northern Virginia Transportation
Commission authorizing the NVTC to act on the City's behalf as the
contracting and coordinating agent for the New Electronic Payment Program.
