AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL ONE HUNDRED AND
TWENTY (120)DAYS THE FRANCHISE 0 1982(IORDINANCE NO. 1 8285)NIA LLC
BY ORDINANCE ON
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1982-25, adopted by the City of Fairfax, Virginia (the
"City") on July 20, 1982, granted to Verizon Virginia LLC, as successor to Chesapeake and
Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia ("C&P"), for a period of thirty (30) years from and
after the final passage of said ordinance the right to construct, maintain, and operate its posts,
poles, conduits, manholes, ducts, cables, wires, and all other necessary overhead and
underground apparatuses on, over, along, in, under, and through the streets, alleys, highways,
and other public places within the City, for the purpose of providing telephone
communications services within the corporate limits of the City; and
WHEREAS the City is in the process considering O October 7,e2012althecurrent expiration
franchise and may not finalize this process b efore
date of the existing franchise as previously extended by the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia that the franchise granted by Ordinance No. 1982-25 is hereby extended for
an additional one hundred and twenty (120) days from and after its current extended
expiration date, until and through February 14,2013.
This ordinance shall become effective as provided by law.
