AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE AND
MAINTENANCE OF SIDEWALKS, STREETS,
AND RIGHTS-OF-WAY I 1' af
(a) Removal of snow, sleet and ice.
Every occupant of every building or improved lot which abuts upon
a public sidewalk or footway of stone, brick or wood shall have all snow removed
from the sidewalk or footway within six hours after the same shall have ceased
falling, unless such snow shall have fallen during the night or on Sunday, in which
case it shall be removed by 12:00 Noon the day following. The same requirements
shall exist with respect to ice or sleet on.such sidewalks or footways; except, that
the same, when it cannot be removed without injury to the sidewalk or footway,
shall be covered within the period of time specified, with sand, ashes or some other
substance which will render it reasonably safe for travel. Whenever any building
or improved lot is unoccupied, it shall be the duty of the owner or the agent of the
owner thereof to have the snow or ice removed from his sidewalk or footway, as
above required of occupants.
(b) Planting in streets or rights-of-way or obstructing the same.
No person shall plant any trees, shrubs, flowers, or other plants
in the streets or rights-of-way thereof of the City or locate any obstruction
whatsoever therein without the previous consent in writing of the City Manager.
Such planting or obstruction shall not create any right to any abutting property
or property owner, nor shall it divest the City of any right in the streets or
rights-of-way affected thereby.
(c) Barbed wire fencing along streets, alleys, or sidewalks.
It shall not be lawful for any person to erect along any street,
alley, or sidewalk of the City what is known as barbed wire fencing.

(d) Designation of streets upon which hauling of waste materials, etc.
is prohibited.
The City Manager is hereby authorized to designate any street
over which hauling items of waste, dirt , explosive or dangerous materials
or fuel is prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to haul the same over
any street so designated by the City Manager after receipt of due notice of such
prohibition.
(e) Penalty
Any person violating any of the foregoing provisions shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon convicition thereof shall be punished as
required bylaw.
