DESIGNATION OF FY 2012- 2013 REVENUE SHARING PROGRAM FUNDS
At a regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at which meeting a quorum was present and voting, on
a motion by Councilman Greenfield seconded by Councilman Stombres the following
resolution was adopted by a vote of (6) to (0):
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax desires to submit an
application for an allocation of funds of up to $1,350,000 through the Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT) FY 2012 -2013 Revenue Sharing Program; and,
WHEREAS, $1,350,000 of these funds is requested to fund the following
projects:
1. Emergency Battery Back -up Generators — FY13 CIP = $75,000, around 15 generators at a cost
of $5,000 each.
2. Wireless Signal Detectors — FY13 CIP = $50,000, around 7 intersections at a cost of $7,000
per intersection.
3. Acorn Style Street Lights — FY13 CIP = $200,000 — These are lights for Fairfax Boulevard.
VDOT has not funded street lights previously unless through Enhancement Funds. VDOT
might not approve this project.
4. Burke Station Road — FY11 to 13 CIP = $450,000. The total cost of the project is around
$650,000. An additional $200,000 is needed for the reconstruction of the pavement to make
this project eligible. The work includes storm drainage, curb and gutter, and repaving. If
VDOT approves this project the City will realize a savings of $325,000 which will be the
City's match for this revenue sharing project.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT BE RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City
of Fairfax hereby supports this application for an allocation of $1,350,000 through the
Virginia Department of Transportation Revenue Sharing Program;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fairfax
hereby grants authority for the City Manager to execute project administration agreements for
any approved revenue sharing projects.
