AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 24-2.1, AND 24-2.2, ARTICLE I, CHAPTER
24 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, BY INCREASING WATER
AND SEWER CONNECTION, ,AVAILABILITY, AND FRONTAGE CHARGES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Section 24-2.1,
Article I, Chapter 24 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia is amended to read in its
entirety as follows:
Sec. 24-2.1 Same-Water Connection Fees, Availability and Frontage Charges.
Water connection fees and awtilability and frontage charges are hereby established as
follows:

All connections to the water system shall be the responsibility of the consumer and shall be
performed in compliance with the requirements of the Department of Utilities. The consumer
may request that the city perform the connection, and if the city agrees to perform th~
connection, the connection charges listed in this subsection (a) shall be increased by one
hundred percent (100%).

---Multi-use premises shall be charged based on the various types of use or on the
principal use whichever results in the higher charge.
Unless otherwise stated, the type of premises and units of measurement shall be as
defined in Chapter 26 of this Code. "Occupancy unit means any room or suite of rooms
typically rented as a unit containing overnight sleeping accommodations which are separate
from any other such room or suite of rooms within the same hotel, motel, or rooming house.

Notwithstanding the frontage charges set forth hereinabove, the minimum charge for any
and all uses in any zone shall be six hundred and seventy-six dollars ($676.00)
Charges for multi-use premises shall be based on the various types of use or on the principal
use, whichever results in the higher charge.
The city manager or his designee shall determine the type of premises and charges for all
premises. When the Premises does not fall under any of the listed types, the city manager
shall select the most appropriate type or types listed.
Unless otherwise stated, the type of premises and units of measurement shall be as defined in
Chapter 26 of this Code. "Occupancy unit" means any room or suite of rooms typically
