AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 18-2,
18-4 AND 18-5, ARTICLE I, CHAPTER 18
OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX,
VIRGINIA AND ADDING THERETO A NEW
SECTION 18-3.1 CONCERNING OBSTRUCTING
OFFICERS AND OTHERS IN PERFORMANCE OF
DUTY, GIVING FALSE REPORTS TO POLICE
OFFICERS, OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE, AND
ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY OR JAIL.
1. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia, that Section 18-2, Article I, Chapter
18 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia is hereby
amended to read in its entirety as follows:
Sec. 18-2.

2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that a new Section 18-3.1,
Article I, Chapter 18 of the Code of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia is hereby enacted to read in its entirety as
follows:

3. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Section 18-4, Article I,
Chapter 18 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia
is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows:
Sec. 18-4.
Obstructina Justice by threats or force.
If any person, by threats or force, knowingly
attempts to intimidate or impede a judge, magistrate,
justice, juror, attorney for the commonwealth, witness,

~- ~ ~--~' .... = ~- duty lawfully engaged in his or
her duties as such, or to obstruct or impede the
administration of justice in any court, ~e such person
shall be deemed to be guilty of a class i misdemeanor.
4. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Section 18-5, Article I,
Chapter 18 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia
is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows:

Escape from custody or jail.

thereof, or of any law enforcement officer on a charge

5. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the remaining
subsections of the sections hereby amended shall continue
to read as previously enacted.
This ordinance shall become effective as provided by
law.
