AN ORDINANCE TO REZONE FROM R-3 AND I-2 TO C-2 20
ACRES OF LAND MORE OR LESS LOCATED TO THE WEST OF
TURNPIKE SHOPPING CENTER ON MAIN STREET AND MORE
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED ON CITY TAX MAP 58-3((2))
AS A PORTION OF PARCEL 28, AND TO ACCORDINGLY CORRECT
THE ZONING MAP WHICH IS A PART OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA.

WHEREAS, Herbert H. Haft and Leo Goodwin, Jr., contract-owners, have
heretofore filed with this Council a written application to have rezoned from
R-3 and I-2 to C-2 20 acres of land more or less, located to the west of
Turnpike Shopping Center on Main Street, and more part'icularly described on
City Tax Map 58-3((2)) as a portion of parcel 28, described as follows:
Beginning at a point lying on the northerly side of Little River Turnpike,
said point being the southwesterly corner of the Turnpike Shopping Center
Property and the southeasterly corner of the American 0il Company, Cities
Service Oil Company, Gulf Oil Corporation, and Texaco, Inc. Property,
hereafter referred to as "oil companies"; thence departing said Turnpike
Shopping Center Property and running with the northerly side of said
Little River Turnpike N 80~I1'20" W 266.02 feet and N 80°26'20'' W 482.46
feet to a point; thence departing said Little River Turnpike and running
through the "oil companies" Property N 09°33'40'' E 1289.56'feet to a
point lying in the southerly line of the Texaco, Inc. Property; thence
running with the southerly line of said Texaco, Inc. Property N 84°14'50''
E 444.10 feet to~]aoPoint being the northwesterly corner of the Pickett
Industrial Park Property; thence departing said Texaco, Inc. Property and
running with the westerly and southerly lines of said Pickett Industrial
Park Property S 05°45'I0'' E 733.50 feet and S 80°11'20'' E 129.75 feet to
a point being the northwesterly corner of the Turnpike Shopping Center
Property; thence departing said Pickett Industrial Park Property and
running with the westerly line of said Turnpike Shopping Center Property
S 09°50'01'' W 700.00 feet to the point and place of beginning and con-
taining 20.000 acres of land, more or less.
WHEREAS, the said application, having been found by this Council to
be in proper form and accompanied by the required map or blueprint and the
receipt showing payment of the fee required to be paid at the time of the filing
thereof, was promptly referred to the Planning Commission of this City for its
investigation and recommendations thereon, and was duly advertised for public
hearing before the Planning Commission in the manner and for the time required
by the Zoning Ordinance of this City, as amended, and by Section 15.1-493 of
the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, was heard by the Planning Commission
in public hearing pursuant to such advertisement, and was duly advertised for
~oublic hearing thereon before this Council in the manner and for the time
required by the Zoning Ordinance of this City, as amended, and by Section
15.1-493 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, and

WHEREAS, said public hearing on said application has been this day
held, and said City has considered the recommendation of said City Planning
Commission, duly filed, and the evidence presented in connection with said
application at the public hearing, and has reached its decision on said
application,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED that said application be, and the same
hereby is, granted and that the aforesaid land hereinbefore and in said
application more specifically described be, and hereby is, rezoned from R-3
and I-2 to C-2 Zone, as set forth and defined in the said Zoning Ordinance
and amendments thereto, subject to the use regulations permitted in such C-2
Zone, and that the Zoning Administrator of the City be, and he hereby is
directed to correct the Zoning Map heretofore adopted as a part of the Zoning
Ordinance to properly show such change in the zoning of said land, and that
the Clerk of this Council be, and she now hereby is directed to transmit duly
certified copies of this ordinance to the applicant, Zoning Administrator and
to the Planning Commission of this City as soon as possible.
This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage by the
City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia.
