AN ORDINANCE VACATING A THIRTY-FOOT
STREET BETWEEN CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD AND
UNIVERSITY DRIVE ADJACENT TO THE
PROPERTY OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS
AND THE COLONIAL CORPORATION IN THE
CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA.
WHEREAS, Ralph G. Louk, Attorney, has made application
for vacation by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, of an
unopened 30' street, the Westerly end intersecting with Route 123,
the Easterly end intersecting with University Drive, being
bounded on the South by property owned by the American Red Cross
and the North by property owned by the Colonial Corporation,
under the provisions of Title 15.1-364 of the 1950 Code of
Virginia, as amended; and
WHEREAS, Notice of the said application was duly posted
at the Fairfax County Courthouse, Fairfax, Virginia, as required
by the aforesaid State law, and two public places in the City,
to wit: Fairfax City Hall, 104 Armstrong Street, Fairfax,
Virginia, and Fairfax Fire Department, University Drive, Fairfax,
Virginia, at least ten (10) days before viewers were appointed
at the meeting of the Council on June 6, 1972; and
WHEREAS, the City Council in open session at its regular
meeting on June 6, 1972, at 8:00 p.m. appointed N. McK. Downs,
James L. Draper and Dr. Merton S. Parsons as viewers to view
the said street and report in writing whether in their opinion
any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from discontinuing
the said street; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia, that the "30' street" be discontinued
and vacated which was dedicated as a public easement in
Liber Z-9, Page 332, in the land records of Fairfax County,
Virginia, and as further shown on the plat of Division of
the Barbour Estate by Berry Engineers of Feb. 6, 1963, and
revised Dec. 9, 1964, and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that a certified copy of
this ordinance be recorded as deeds are recorded and indexed
among the land records of Fairfax County, Virginia, in the
name of the City of Fairfax, Virginia.
