AN ORDINANCE regulating truck traffic within and
through the City of Fairfax and prohibiting through
truck traffic on certain designated streets.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax
as follows:
1.

One-Way Streets and Other Traffic
add, Section 13-120A Motor Truck Traffic.
(a) Motor truck traffic is hereby forbidden on the
following streets within the City of Fairfax except for the purpose
of receiving loads or making deliveries on said streets within the
City of Fairfax:
(1) Warwick Avenue from Burrows Avenue to
Bevan Drive.
(2) Burrows Avenue from Warwick Avenue to the
northern City limits.
~(3) Meredith Drive from Routes 29-50-211 to
Warwick Avenue.
(4) Hill Street from Fairchester Drive to
dead end.
(5) Fairchester Drive from Routes 29-50-211 to
Bevan Drive.
(6) Bevan Drive from Route 50 to Orchard Street.
(7) Orchard Street from Jermantown Road to
McLean Avenue.
(8) Carol Street from Jermantown Road to
Anne Street.
(9) Norman Avenue from the service road at
Route 123 to dead end.
(10) McLean Avenue from Warwick Avenue to
Orchard Street.
(11) Oak Street from Route 29-211 south to
Route 236.
(12) Cedar Avenue from Oak Street east to
Route 123.
(13) Keith Avenue from Route 236 north to
Cedar Avenue.
(14) McLean Avenue from Route 29-50-211 south
to Cedar Avenue.
(15) Stratford Avenue from Route 123 east to
its terminus.
(16) Armstrong Street from University Drive
east to Sideburn Road.
(17) Jean Street from University Drive east
to Stratford Avenue.
(b) The following routes are hereby designated as
through truck routes and shall be used by all motor trucks traveling
through the City of Fairfax which do not stop to receive loads or make
deliveries within the City: (Reserved.)
(c) The provisions of paragraphs (a) and (b) of this
Section 13-120A shall not apply to emergency or fire fighting vehicles
or to such other vehicles which carry a written permit issued by the
Chief of Police of the City of Fairfax. The Chief of Police shall
issue such permits only where it is clearly demonstrated to him or
his authorized agent that such permit will alleviate a hardship or
will promote the better flow of traffic through the City.
(d) The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to provide and maintain signs which will apprise an ordinarily
observant person of the prohibitions and requirements of paragraphs

(a) and (b) above and which will conform substantially in size,
design and color to those erected for the same purpose by the State
Highway Department.
(e) Any person violating any provision of this
section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof
shall be punished in accordance with Section 1-7 of the City Code.
