RESOLUTION NO. 2002 - R-02-27
RESOLUTION TO APPROVE, WITH MODIFICATIONS AND A CONDITION,
THE REQUEST OF SHOPPERS FOOD WAREHOUSE BY HARRY L.
SOMMER, AGENT, FOR A SPECIAL EXCEPTION PURSUANT TO SECTION
110-185 OF THE CITY CODE, TO EXCEED THE MAXIMUM PERMITTED
BUILDING-MOUNTED SIGNAGE FOR A SINGLE TENANT IN A MULTI-
TENANT SHOPPING CENTER, AND TO ALLOW ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE
THAT DENTIFIES BUSINESSES LOCATED WITHIN THE STORE ON THE
PREMISES KNOWN AS 9622 MAIN STREET, AND FURTHER IDENTIFIED
AS TAX MAP PARCEL 58-3-02-023A.
WHEREAS, Shoppers Food Warehouse has submitted Application No. SE-315-02-1
requesting a Special Exception pursuant to City Code Section 110-185; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has carefully considered the application, the
recommendation of the staff and testimony received at the public heating; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the proposed Special Exception,
with modifications and a condition, is appropriate because the proposal meets the requisites
established by City of Fairfax Code for the following reasons:
The request meets the criteria established in City Code Section 110-366 and
110-185.
The City Council has determined that the granting of a Special Exception will
not be inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan or the purpose of the sign
regulations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax
on this eighteenth day of June, 2002 that Application No. SE-315-02-1 be and hereby is
Approved with modifications and a condition, as follows:
Signage shall be limited to a total of 225 square feet, which shall be allocated as
follows: 150 square feet maximum to identify Shoppers Food Warehouse, 42.72
square feet maximum to identify Provident Bank, and 31.83 square feet maximum to
identify the pharmacy.
